Our volunteers are the heart of our organization who allow us to serve our neighbors in need effectively and with great dignity and respect.

At the Cooperstown Food Pantry, there’s a role for everyone! Read on to learn about the ways you can get involved as a volunteer at the Pantry.

Weekly Volunteers

Become a weekly volunteer, where you’ll commit to one two to three hour shift per week and will take and fulfill orders, restock prior to the next shift, and help us keep the Pantry organized and clean.

Substitute Volunteers

Aren’t able to commit to a weekly shift? Become a substitute volunteer! Our subs receive emails when a weekly volunteer is unable to fill their shift and are able to cover shifts as they fit into their schedules.

Fresh Recovery Volunteers

Looking for something short and sweet? Become a Fresh Recovery volunteer! Fresh Recovery volunteers come in before the Pantry opens to help us sort and put away our Fresh Recovery deliveries from our local Price Chopper stores. As a Fresh Recovery volunteer, you’ll spend just under an hour at the Pantry once a week.

Transportation Volunteers

Similar to a substitute volunteers, you can sign up to receive emails about donations that need to be picked up and delivered to the Pantry, or that need to be delivered from the Pantry to one of our partners. Only respond if and when you are available!

Delivery Day Volunteers

Sign up to assist with our monthly delivery from the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York, which takes place on the last Thursday of each month. Delivery Day volunteers will receive an email the week before delivery with information about time. You’ll help us unload the truck and organize our new inventory!

All new volunteers are thoroughly trained and placed with seasoned volunteers on all shifts.

Our need for volunteers varies from time to time. Please reach out to Mary Kate at directorcfp@gmail.com if you are interested in getting involved, and we’ll do our best to help you find the best fit with us here at the Pantry!
