The 2019 “Empty Bowls Luncheon” to benefit the Cooperstown Food Pantry will be held this year on March 2nd, from Noon to 2PM at Christ Church Parish Hall, Fair St, Cooperstown.
The EMPTY BOWLS PROJECT began in the early 1990’s by a group of potters who wanted to raise money for their local food bank and soup kitchen. The concept spread across the country and this will be our 13th year hosting the event in Cooperstown. Our local potters at the Smithy have been busy throwing and glazing over 300 hand thrown
bowls and local restaurants, caterers and individuals are donating delicious soups and breads. In addition, there will be a raffle of pottery.
Guests are asked for a $15 donation for a simple soup lunch served in a bowl of their choice which they will keep as a reminder of “empty bowls” and hunger in Otsego County. All money raised from the event is donated to the Cooperstown Food Pantry. Every $1 enables the Food Pantry to purchase $15 worth of food from Feeding America. In the past 12 years close to $80,000 has been raised to support our local Food Pantry.
